The Lion’s Face Opera – Casting News

Casting has been announced for The Lion’s Face and the first day of rehearsals takes place on 19 April at the Jerwood Space in Southwark.

Acclaimed actor  Dave Hill plays the title role of Mr D
Music has been an important thread running through Dave’s career, from writing and singing for The Ken Campbell Road Show to Corunna with Steeleye Span at The Royal Court and The Mysteries with the Albion Band and Larkrise to Candleford with the Home Service, both at The National Theatre. He has co-written two musicals – Bendigo and Walking Like Geoffrey directed by Richard Eyre for Nottingham Playhouse. He played God in Benjamin Britten’s Noah’s Flood, directed by Lucy Bailey for The Aldeburgh Festival.

Films include: Peter Greenaway’s The Draughtsman’s Contract and The Full Monty. His many television credits include: Chef, City Central, Linda Green, Bob & Rose, Place of Execution, Rocket Man, Take A Girl Like You, New Tricks, Caravaggio, Real Women, The Ice House, Cracker, Midsomer Murders, Wallander and EastEnders

    • Thanks for your kind words. We’re looking into the possibility of filming the production and we’ll let you know how we get on. At present, we are only touring in the UK, but it would be great for the opera to tour further afield in future.
